CHRISTMAS PARTY ART JAMS

Posted: Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Are you or your boss or company looking for an economical way to have a Christmas party!… thinking you can’t spend they money that was spend before, but still want to do something fun.    An art jam is something that you can do in the boardroom of your offices or in the nearest pub…. bring in your own wine.

The idea is “PAINT THE BOSS” art jam.  The boss has to bring in a photo of themselves and everyone has to paint them… The boss then picks the best one and gives a prize.  This can take place in the offices – art jam will set up and provide all the materials, a few bottles of wine and a lot of laughs later you can all head down to the pub and wish each other a Merry Christmas!!   All paintings can be hung on the walls of the office for a while for a laugh – who knows the boss may even offer to buy the best painting!!

All about “Giving something back”…

Posted: Monday, March 2nd, 2009

One of the main reasons that I started Art Jam was that I wanted to do something that gave my clients something other than just purchasing an activity.  I wanted to make a living out of something that had a feel good factor, not only for me, but for the people that participated.  Not only do the participants of art jam walk away with a painting, but they walk away with so much more; the feeling of achievment when they have done something they didnt think they could do; the sense of relaxation and switching off that they wouldn’t have experienced in a long time; a few hours of play time feeling as free as a child; a few hours to listen to your soul; and the enjoyment and self worth that comes with just doing something fun for yourself.   While of course I want to make a living out of doing this, I love what art jamming gives to the participants… and that is what is important to me.

SO NATURALLY.. I get very excited and happy when I discover someone somewhere else is doing something that is more about “giving something” than making money… On Saturday 28 Feb I read an article in the Irish Times Magazine about a teenager called Cameron Stewart.  He wants to make a million and give it all away by the time he is 20… and no doubt he will.  The world needs more people like Cameron Stewart!   He owns ARK clothing – ARK standing for Acts of Random Kindness, and his idea is to encourage wearers to perform a random act of kindness. So whether you want to buy a polo shirt… or just be inspired by this guy, check out his website www.arkhq.com

Art Jamming & Networking

Posted: Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Having an art jam at a networking event is a wonderful way to break the ice and get people talking. While most networking events are socialable events, hosting an art jam gives it a little something extra, people mingle very easily out of curiosity to see what everyone else is doing.  While one participant may think their own painting is terrible, someone else may think its fantastic.. so not only do the participants leave having made new contacts and a painting.. they may also have had an enourmous boost to their self esteem!      Art Jam Ireland recently hosted an evening for Networth Networking  www.networth.ie   which turned out to be a great evening.  There were two sessions, each for 30 people.  Food and wine was laid on in the beautifull Ballsbridge Court hotel. The first art jam session took place when people arrived.  There was a break for half an hour for the speakers and then the second group painted.  In the meantime everyone was mingling, sipping wine, having supper  and just generally having a good time.  Here are the photos:

Art Jam resumes @ Piedescalso Art Cafe

Posted: Sunday, January 18th, 2009

Hi Everyone,

Back by popular demand  – from Tuesday 20th January we will be resuming our every Tuesday night Art Jams at the Piedescalso Art Cafe in Thomas Street (on the corner of Francis St, beside Noto Cafe).  For those of you that haven’t yet been the Piedescalso Art Cafe is a lovely little venue with friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere… and ideal for table top take away art sessions.  Slightly different to the standard art jams with easels and deep edge canvases – here we use rolled out canvas across the table tops and everyone gets a quarter part of canvas to paint a way.. the full use of all materials, art books to inspire, an artist on hand to guide & advise if required… but generally everyone is left to their own devices and their own creativity.  Its a great night for friends to get together, paint and chat over a glass of wine (or a bottle!!)… an unusual date!!!!… or come along on your own and make new friends.!  Everyone gets to take away their very own masterpiece in a take away box!  Price is €25 per person and includes a plate of tapas.  you can pay on the night, but booking your place is essential.  Attached are some of the photos of the art jams at the art cafe before Christmas

Happy New Year…

Posted: Sunday, January 4th, 2009

Happy New Year to you all … lets hope its a good one for everyone … and I hope that all of you who haven’t yet tried art jamming will get around to it sometime this year.  Why not do something new, try something that you haven’t done before…. why not get a group of ten or more of your friends together and have an art jam in your kitchen – you don’t have to have a reason!!.. just do it for fun.  Hopefully the Tuesday Art Jam evenings in the Piedescalso will be starting up before the end of January (as soon as they have the renovations completed)… and we will also be participating at the Cultivate centre on the 7th February  www.cultivate.ie  and many more events are being planned throughout the year. Check back regularly for updates or email info@artjam.ie to be added to the mailing list if you want to be advised when something new comes up.

In the meantime I wish each and every one of you a very Happy and Prosperous 2009.

Best Wishes, Deirdre
