One of the main reasons that I started Art Jam was that I wanted to do something that gave my clients something other than just purchasing an activity. I wanted to make a living out of something that had a feel good factor, not only for me, but for the people that participated. Not only do the participants of art jam walk away with a painting, but they walk away with so much more; the feeling of achievment when they have done something they didnt think they could do; the sense of relaxation and switching off that they wouldn’t have experienced in a long time; a few hours of play time feeling as free as a child; a few hours to listen to your soul; and the enjoyment and self worth that comes with just doing something fun for yourself. While of course I want to make a living out of doing this, I love what art jamming gives to the participants… and that is what is important to me.
SO NATURALLY.. I get very excited and happy when I discover someone somewhere else is doing something that is more about “giving something” than making money… On Saturday 28 Feb I read an article in the Irish Times Magazine about a teenager called Cameron Stewart. He wants to make a million and give it all away by the time he is 20… and no doubt he will. The world needs more people like Cameron Stewart!
